We use instanced zones to provide custom content and manage the rate at which loot becomes available as the server population increases.
Using Instances
To enter an instance, you must find a special NPC located somewhere in Norrath. Just hail one for information. The NPC can also summon corpses from instances that have expired and tell you about your lockout timer.
In a non-raid group, the group leader controls the instance. In a raid, the raid leader controls it. Only the current raid or group leader can start a new instance. New characters can be added to your instance across zones, without needing to zone out: just invite them into a group.
To prevent confusion, instance NPCs will only let characters zone in that are in the same instance as the raid/group leader. If you are in a different instance, the NPC will tell you and remind you when your lockout timer expires (since that’s the earliest you can join a different instance).
Command | Description |
“hail” | In-character story text and basic triggers. |
“enter” | Enter your current instance. Only the group or raid leader can use this command to create a new instance. If you are locked out, the NPC will tell you when your timer expires. |
“corpse” | Did you leave a corpse in an instance that expired? Don’t worry, it’s not gone! The NPC can summon these corpses for you upon request before they decay in 7 days. |
“reflag” | Raid/group leader only. Re-flags all members of your raid/group for the instance. This is a backup for raid/group leaders just in case a bug pops up. |
